Cindy Freeland has committed over thirteen years to helping her clients create clear expectations for employee performance and to advocating for her clients in defense of those expectations. She believes that a company’s best strategy in litigation is created long before any complaint is filed. Cindy’s practice includes the following expertise:
Advocating for employers in cases involving sexual harassment and other forms of discrimination, class action and individual wage and hour claims, claims for fraud, unfair competition and unfair business practices, trade secret misappropriation and employee disloyalty. Her experience includes action in state and federal court, in arbitration and mediation, and in matters before administrative agencies including the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Employment Development Department.
Counseling clients in creating and enforcing policies and establishing human resource systems that are legally compliant and that make business sense for the employer’s unique workplace. She assists employers in conducting investigations of employee misconduct, including sexual harassment, and she conducts in-house training on various employment law issues;
Investigating claims of misconduct, including harassment or discrimination;
Educating and training employers on means for creating and maintaining great workplaces, including on avoiding and investigating harassment, understanding leaves of absence and managing performance.
